Wizard of Oz

Not sure what I was expecting; but I walked away wondering why some of the subtle changes in certain scenes while others where performed verbatim from the original. For someone who grew up watching the original movie I found it a bit disconcerting. I really didn't appreciate the interjection of one liners and rather lame humor. It made it feel as though one felt that the original couldn't stand on its own on stage; which I feel it most surely could. There was certainly nothing I would call scary, from the sulty evening gown clad trees to the wicked witch herself. Perhaps this was intentional as I am sure the intent was to welcome families with children. The witch was almost a parody of a wicked witch to me; which again was quite possibly intentional. The flying scenes left me rather disappointed; there was really no flying , only dropping in with wires clearly visible; which made me wonder; why bother! But all in all, an enjoyable experience. Outstanding

I do not have a great experience in live performances, only can say that after 10 min the play started I was transported to the story, I was absolutely surprised about the songs and the different twist to original story. Went with my 6 years old , who has ADD and he was engaged the whole time, we loved! Is a must! ... Read more
