Detroit Opera - Rinaldo

Detroit Opera - Rinaldo at Detroit Opera House

Why see Detroit Opera - Rinaldo?

High Fantasy

Detroit Opera present a thrilling new take on Handel's Baroque opera Rinaldo, re-imagining the story to take place within the dreams of a child on the ward in a modern day hospital. Directed by Louisa Proske and conducted by Roberto Kalb, don't miss this fantastic production at the Opera House!

What Is The Story?

Rinaldo is in three acts and was first performed in 1711, famously the first Italian opera composed specifically for the London stage. Based on Torquato Tasso's epic poem Gerusalemme Liberata, the plot follows the heroic knight Rinaldo as he battles the sorceress Armida and the Saracen forces, all in a bid to rescue his beloved Almirena.
