An eclectic work of art danced by three companies
Now embarking on their 26th season, the Detroit-based dance company are set for a busy 2017. With various national and overseas arrangements already on the calendar, they are also preparing for a new home season at Detroit Opera House. This program is a triple threat; a collaboration between Montreal's ezdanza and Santa Barbara's State Street Ballet and EDE that combines both classical ballet and contemporary dance into one brand-new, original production.
Common Ground is the three-way collaboration between these very different companies, demonstrating how differing styles of dance can come together in harmony. A visionary piece by Edgar Zendejas, it first premiered in Santa Barbara in 2015 to rave reviews and is an eclectic take on The Four Seasons. Before the main performance, there is a half-hour prelude with students from EDE.
