Performance Venues in Detroit
Housed in Detroit's iconic skyscraper The Fisher Building, The Fisher Theatre is one of the city's oldest live theatre venues. When it originally opened, the theatre featured an Aztec-themed interior, with real banana tress and live macaws, but has since been remodelled into something slightly less tropical. Operated by The Nederlander Organisation, it's hosted many world premieres throughout the years, including Hello Dolly! and Fiddler on the Roof.
The Fox Theatre is a performing arts center located in Downtown Detroit, Michigan. It was opened in 1928 as a flagship movie palace, and is the largest surviving of the 1920s, as well as the largest of the original Fox Theatres. In 1985, the theatre was added onto the National Register of Historic Places in 1985 and was named a National Historic Landmark in 1989, after its full restoration in 1988. The Fox Theatre has a seating capacity of 5,048 and hosts a variety of shows, including concerts and musicals.
