Why See Detroit Symphony Orchestra - Schumann's Spring?
Spring blooms forth!
Join the DSO and exciting up-and-comer violinist Ray Chen for a Schumann's First Symphony, a delicate and delightful evocation of the season of renewal as we shake off the drudgery of the winter and welcome new life.
Originally intending to study law, Schumann left the profession to persue his dreams of becoming a virtuoso pianist. When a hand-injury put paid to this path, he turned his talents to composition. His imagination and talent proved himself to be one of the greats of the Romantic era. Today, some 200 years after his birth, his works continue to inspire and entertain around the world.
Opening night: 12 April 2018
