Why See Cyrus Chestnut: A Charlie Brown Christmas?
The Original Score
Originally released in 1965, Vince Guaraldi's score for the Peanuts' holiday special A Charlie Brown is a magical blend of Yuletide standards and original numbers, such as 'Linus and Lucy', and 'Christmas Time is Here'. The show has since been adapted into a full blown musical, but Detroit Symphony Orchestra is offering audiences the chance to hear it in all of its stripped back glory, with Cyrus Chestnut.
Hailed as one of the great jazz pianists of his generation, Cyrus Chestnut has produced countless records over the years, including in 2000, a recording of A Charlie Brown Christmas. In 2018, he revisits the score live for this special concert, which promises to be a lowkey, festive treat.
