A Hilarious Boys' Own Adventure Spoof
19th-Century London's Explorers Club is reserved for those brave souls who traipse across the globe in search of undiscovered lands and ancient treasures. Now, this boys' own world of adventure is under threat from that most ghastly of horrors! A woman! More precisely, explorer Phyllida Spotte-Hume, who turns up at the clubhouse with one of the Nakong jungle tribe in tow, and demands that she be granted membership. It might just be the biggest danger the club has ever faced!
Written by Legally Blonde scribe Nell Benjamin, this wonderfully silly play had its world premiere off-Broadway in 2013, and is swiftly on its way to becoming a regional theatre favorite! Packed full of witticisms and slapstick set-pieces (and a few pointed gender politics jokes as well), this Meadow Brook Theatre production is certainly the funniest new show of the season.
