A fascinating exploration of the ties that bind
Meadow Brook Theatre presents a though-provoking show that will make you question familial relationships. When a middle-class American family adopts a child from Congo, the chances this child has of settling into a cookie-cutter lifestyle seem slim. When 17-year old Luce beats the odds to become a football star and popular student, his adoptive parents couldn't be more proud. Yet through the course of the play they discover that there is more than meets the eye when it comes to Luce...
When one of Luce's assignments comes into question and certain items are found in his locker, his parents are forced to reassess their parent-child relationship and peel back the many layers to their young son in order to find out who he really is. Written by Juilliard graduate J.C Lee, the production features newcomer Leroy Smith Graham in the titular role.
